Frequently asked questions
What time is check-in and check-out?
Check-in is at 3:00 PM, and check-out is by 12:00 PM. We operate a self-check-in system. Check-in instructions will be sent to guests via WhatsApp before arrival. Our on-site property manager will be available to assist and guide guests if needed.
Can we add an extra mattress?
Yes. An extra mattress set is RM 120 per set per night, with a maximum of 2 sets per booking. Each set comes with a single floor mattress, a blanket, a pillow and a towel. Children aged 12 and under stay free when sharing existing bedding with a paying adult.
Is there air-conditioning?
You won't need it. Kundasang's highland climate stays cool all year, and every house has ceiling fans and hot showers. Bring a light jacket for the evenings.
Can we cook and have a BBQ?
Yes. Every house has a kitchen with cookware and tableware, plus a BBQ and steamboat area. For safety, please don't bring your own electrical cooking or heating appliances.
What is your cancellation and rescheduling policy?
Cancellations made less than 7 days before arrival are non-refundable.
A no-show without prior notification is not refunded. If you let us know before your arrival date, you may reschedule your booking within 6 months, subject to availability. Any price difference must be topped up by the guest.
How do I pay, and what do I need at check-in?
Book online through our booking engine with a valid credit or debit card, which secures your reservation. Prices are exclusive of 8% SST, which is added when you book. Please bring a valid government-issued ID or passport for your stay.
Is smoking allowed?
No. Smoking is strictly prohibited inside all accommodation units.
Can we bring pets, or camp on the property?
No. Pets are not allowed on the property, and camping is not allowed anywhere on the property.
Can we bring durian or mangosteen?
Please don't. Durian and mangosteen are not allowed inside the property.
Is there parking, or a shuttle from Kota Kinabalu?
Free on-site parking is available for Starlight guests. STARLIGHT guests also have a dedicated private parking area. We do not provide a shuttle service from Kota Kinabalu, so self-driving is recommended. Please visit our Location page for directions to Starlight Mesilau.
Can I charge my electric car?
Yes. EV charging is complimentary for guests, together with free Wi-Fi and free parking.
